National Tree Day In Bekaa

Special thank you to Sheikh Khalil El-Mayss, Mufti El- Bekaa, for your gracious hospitality. If those trees could talk, we are sure they would tell you how proud they are to be planted in your yard!

We have received 50 olive trees from the Armed Forces Command. We highly respect and appreciate the sacred gifts. Thank you

Big thank you to Mr Adel Bahlawan, Mr. Jamal Farhat, and to the wonderful school team of Al- Marj School for the warm welcome and hospitality.
We very much enjoyed our planting day with you!

On National Tree Day, we visited Azhar El- Bekaa and Makassed Al- Marj School and planted the baby olive trees along with our new friends. They all promised us to take care of the trees...and with sunshine and good soil our trees will grow with us and will always tie us back to this beautiful land.

Cooperative learning method: STAD

During the last math session students experienced a new learning method:Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD)

After I explained a math lesson about kinds of angles and how to draw and measure them, students worked in teams to make sure that everyone mastered the objectives of this lesson. Then all students made a quiz about the material given, and every student's score was compared to his previous test score(also about angles). Students, who exceeded their previous averages with their quiz scores, were rewarded by taking green cards that were summed according to team membership.

Here's a bar graph that shows how students' scores improved after performing STAD.

Units for measuring the temperature
During the last science session students learnt about units for measuring the temperature: Centigrade and Fahrenheit.

1-We placed a graduated thermometer in class(contains both units C & F).Students recorded the temperature daily in both units.

2-Students surffed the net to find that countries like Germany,Russia,France, and United States are using Fahrenheit scale.

3-We learnt that 0 C = 32 F, 10 C = 50 F,and that water boils at 212 degree F and freezes at 32 degree F.

4-Finally students drew their own thermometers, and they graduated it in both units.
