Clowns and Magicians from Belgium

Gauthier Jansen (BOLO) and Zoe Sevrin (ROUDOU) from "Clowns and Magicians Without Borders", an international organization from Belgium, volunteered to give a show to our students with a message about protecting the environment. BOLO, an amazing clown, told our students that plastic bags are hard on the environment and we can use our imagination to reuse and reduce plastic bags. The message was given through interactive clowning show.

Indeed, laughter is the shortest distance between two people.

We thank "Clowns and Magicians Without Borders" and a special THANK YOU to Mrs. Zeina Hobeiche.

Cycle Two Students Celebrating Mother's Day

Cycle Two students greatly enjoyed preparing letters and cards for their moms on Mother’s Day. Their creativity was shown in the drawings and cards that they created. Grade Four students were presented with letter forms. Together with their teacher, they wrote a beautiful poem. Then each one drew and colored his/ her own poem in the way he/she likes.

Grade Five and Six memorized a poem titled "My Hero". Then, they designed different cards. Some made use of their good computer skills to do their cards. It was their own special way to express their affection to their mothers.

Ways can vary no doubt, but one thing remains fixed. It is deep and unconditional love and care that a mother gives and the appreciation that she gets on her day although nothing can ever equal to all that she does.

Text Anxiety Presentation

It is important to share experiences and knowledge among all Makassed teachers in order to develop and grow as an organization. For that reason, Miss Natasha Frank had a plan of having the Beirut English Language coordinators give presentations or workshops on a topic of their choice.

Last week, we were the first school to present. Miss Rana Lawand and Miss Sahar Chaer gave a presentation titled" Test Anxiety” at Omar Bin Al Khattab College. Miss Natasha, the other Beirut coordinators, and the English Unit at Omar together with some teachers of various Makassed schools attended the presentation. The presentation identified test anxiety as an intense type of performance anxiety. The causes of test anxiety were discussed in details. Then, the different symptoms of test anxiety were presented. The second part of the presentation was dedicated to exploring ways in which a teacher can deal with a student who suffers from test anxiety.

At the end of the presentation, the participants completed a true or false questionnaire to see if they have a case of test anxiety or not. The results were quiet interesting!
